Job Description for Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer

The Rotating Equipment Engineer leads reliability improvement efforts and provides support and direction in completing repairs to rotating equipment or systems. The Engineer assists in the preventive and predictive programs. Ensures the appropriate troubleshooting analysis, failure analysis and technical solutions are employed. This role provides the primary focus on Proactive Maintenance and reliability for the plant rotating equipment and systems. The primary focus of this position is reliability support to the plant for rotating equipment issues. Improvements in mechanical availability are expected to result from the involvement in the maintenance and troubleshooting activity as well as the application of his/her technical expertise in solving equipment performance problems and instituting improvements.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides technical support to the Maintenance and Process enhancement teams.
  • Understands and is compliant with all Work permit and Process Safety policies and procedures.
  • Reviewing and analyzing equipment reliability data (e.g. vibration spectrum data, oil analysis, reciprocating engine and compressor analysis reports).

Job Description for Static Equipment Reliability Engineer

To technically lead and manage all mechanical engineering actions required to support reliable operations of the static Equipment and system. Provide technical support to the Refinery’s maintenance and operational teams. Optimize and provide solutions and/or alternatives for inquiries received from operations. Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with quality and safety standards, specifications and reliability best practices.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Improve mechanical equipment reliability and availability through the implementation of Reliability Engineering principles, techniques and tools, such as Risk Based Maintenance (RBM) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
  • Coordinate with other Maintenance Divisions and the Operations Department to discuss, develop, review and manage static equipment maintenance and reliability strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of Predictive and Preventative Maintenance plans and procedures for all Static equipment, and provide technical expertise for mechanical equipment maintenance activities, standards and procedures.

  • Develop ten-year renovation plans / budgets based on risk management of obsolescence equipment. Approve and supervise the engineering and design of modifications, (technical) for all static equipment and piping systems.
  • Define spare part requirements for static equipment, employing Risk Based Maintenance and FMECA. Perform regular audits to ensure working capital is optimized, stock levels are maintained and obsolete equipment is removed.
  • Coordinate the training of subordinates on general knowledge of static equipment (pressure vessels, heaters, storage tanks, heat exchangers) and piping – including all in-line piping components such as valves and filters.
